Another sleepless night

That's what I get for taking a nap during the Houston/Sacramento game. Houston won btw. Houston looking even scarier...

Dallas ended up winning over Minny too. Dirk didn't shoot that well from the field, but that's to be expected coming off a knee injury. Duke won over Georgia Tech, too, surprise surprise. Congrats to the ACC Title Champions. I'm rooting for Gonzaga all the way though.

Man, I missed Dirk's episode of Punk'D tonight. I think that show is way past its 15 minutes, but I would have liked to seen Dirk look silly. ;) I always forget when shows are about to start. Always. Serious lack of concentration. So of course I tune in like 20 mins into the show... I saw Kirsten Dunst. She was all bawling, lmao. And Michelle Rodriguez was just screamin' and hollerin'. I read Dirk's prank was going to be about these "over zealous" nutritionists telling Dirk that his butt looked fat -

All I know is- there ain't one slab of fat on this German physique:

Yello!

Anyhoo. Speaking of b-ball hotties. Turns out Tony P. will sit out against the Hornets... he is "questionable" but I think he'll sit out. It's only the Hornets after all. TD will carry us through. For selfish reasons I really hope he plays against the Timberwolves, 'cos I'm going to that gameee. I can't wait to go. I've never travelled anywhere by myself... I'll be okay though. I was contemplating bringing my portable DVD player but that'll already be too much shiet I have to carry. Tomorrow I have to pack. I have do so much crap. A paper and another friggen poster due for Humanities, two tests I have to take early since I'm skipping Thursday- I know I'm gonna have a zombie moment during the day and will want to pass the fuck out. And then the Hornets game will be distracting me....

Who can resist that. Who, tell me damn you.

Duke > Dallas

Man this Duke/GT game is getting intersting. Daniel Ewing (is it Daniel?) their PG fouling out with 5 mins to go after Jarett Jack buries a three pointer to cut the Duke lead to 6. But dang, it's 3:42 and it's now 58-51 Duke. I like J.J. Redick but that Jack guy is hurt and GT is such an underdog- and they knocked off the overrated UNC. They haven't been to an ACC Title game since '96. Marbury vs Duncan!

But back to Dallas. Crap, Dirk is limping and his knee is bothering him but he is playing out there. KG got poked in the eye earlier in the game and he reacted as if he were shot! Cyclops KG. Damnnn, Dirk getting pushed around. Tied game with Minny at 75.

Whee tough turnaround J in the lane. I just had shrimp for lunch. It SUCKS without ketchup though. So I'm kind of regretting doing that ~_~ Will be back latah.

Devil Inside

^ My MSN wallpaper, nice eh?

That's what I'm pretty much using these days. My friend tells me AIM >>>>> MSN but he's a foo.

So ugh, I went to bed around 6 in the damn morning. And got somewhat of shuteye... woke up around 11 or so. I'm waiting for the NBA games on ABC this morning but so far it's the Duke vs Georgia Tech ACC Title craze on ESPN.

I was rummaging through my CDs this morning because I have to listen to something when I'm online. Or otherwise I'll go back to sleep ;) Anyway I remembered what a kick I got listening to Devil Inside by INXS last night when I called my phone. So that's what I put.

Next Sun the Spurs have a game on ABC... God it's going to be scary- against Detroit on their court. But I think with Tim and Manu back and healthy- we should be good to go. I can't handle three losses in one week. If so, there goes of our dream of going 65-17! Nah I think they will finish 60-22, which is a tribute to their 02-03 Championship winning season.

I think I'll do a bit of posting at Spurs Report. Will post as the games comes on. Dirk I love thee!

Green Day should help

So yeah- I knew about blogging- those CNN freaks during the Election were slobbering all over the new phenomenon and I was just like, they're just online journals ~_^

But anyway I am a pretty quiet person- one of those people who are just made to keep journals but I never keep up with them. This year I was when my cable was out and my compy died on me but after only a few days worth of entries, I had wasted more than half the pages! I was like this is not normal LOL Anyway my hands would get tired; it's so sad how we rely on typing these days, but... that's technology.

'I'll Always Love Technology.... But Not As Much As You, You See... Because You, You Are My Ev-ery-thing... Always And For-ever....'

Dude I love Napoleon Dynamite. It's sad it's become such a fad now; you know it's a fad once you see like Paris Hilton and those Hollywood freaks wearing trucker hats, Jesus Love You shirts, completely obsessed with their T-Mobile Sidekicks, LOL The same holds true for Napoleon. But I don't care. I'll proudly wear a Vote 4 Pedro shirt. I found one at Hot Topic today but they didn't have my size. So I settled for one that said Skillz.

"Girls only want guys that got good skills! Like nunchucking skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... I ain't got no skillz"

I am up at 4:20 AM Central Time and I decide to put on Green Day. Boy that should do wonders to make me fall asleep. I haven't listened to this CD, American Idiot, much. I really liked Boulevard of Broken Dreams though- shame it'll get overplayed. Same thing with the Napoleon craze.

Speaking of music, I got a new cell phone today and discovered the wonders of Caller Tunes. I just bought three or four songs off of Tmobile.com. I'm sure I'll buy more as I peruse through the site, but I chose Dust in the Wind by Kansas, Pretty in Pink by the Smiths, Devil Inside by INXS, and a really awesome movie quote from Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents. You know, where he says a prayer before they eat...

"Oh, dear god, thank you, you are such a good god to us. A kind and gentle and accommodating god, and we thank you oh sweet, sweet lord of hosts for the smorgasbord you have so aptly laid at our table this day, and each day, by day, day by day, by day oh dear lord three things we pray to love thee more dearly, to see thee more clearly, to follow thee more nearly, day, by day, by day. Amen."

I love that scene. But those CallerTunes tricked me; I thought they were going to be Ring Tones. So I tested out by calling my cell and I got all these songs instead of the normal ringing. I was like, dang that's not fair- I get the normal ring, and whenever some peeps are trying to call me, they'll be groovin to INXS! Devil Inside was the first one I bought. I was like, this is not a bad selection... their Alternative 70s-80s was pretty impressive. INXS, Talking Heads, The Clash, Ramones, Pretenders, The Smiths- nothing to snuff at.

Anyway, I should rant a little about my Spurs. Damn it, another loss. Two in a row actually. But it's okay though because we didn't have our two All-Stars Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili. Still it stinks. Which is the reason my name is Spurs Dork; the Spurs are a prime reason why I titled my blog 'Silly obsessed thing'. I seriously get obsessed with things too fast, and then the obsession (sports, TV shows, movies, whatever it may be) will steadily die off. Like the first thing I was ever obsessed with as a young adult- The Beatles. Holy hell man. I bought every freaken CD, magazine, movie, documentary, memorabilia, poster, you name it known to man! But I'll always hold them dear. I still love the Beatles but not the point when I was like 12 or 13. No, that doesn't mean I'm 40 years old or something. I'm 20 and it's pretty funny to hear that some teenage girl in the 90s would fall in love with such a deep, moving band that young. That obsession grew though, as I grew. When I first heard While My Guitar Gently Weeps by George Harrison, I had no idea what the hell he was talking about. I asked my uncle, a music afficionado like myself, why would he write about his guitar crying? That doesn't make sense.

HELLO He did not mean it literally. The guitar was his soul. And at that age I could never comprehend songs like Norweigan Wood, Within You Without You, Day Tripper... Beatles fans you know what I am talking about. The meaning behind their songs (starting in the mid 60s) were so complex. Same thing with John Lennon's stuff which a 12-15 year old will not understand.

'I don't believe in Jesus... I don't believe in Beatles... I just believe in me... Yoko and me... and that's reality... The dream is over... what can I say... the dream is over... yesterday..'

I took everything by face value. I was like how can you say you don't believe in Jesus? And the whole thing when John said the Beatles were bigger than Jesus; freaken everyone going ape shit. It was the truth. It was not a malicious statement- Beatlefreakingmania was IT back then. If you know about the NBA, think of Yao Ming when he goes to China. And I still bet you Beatlemania was bigger. So my obsession with the Beatles has evolved, and I've only treasured them more as I've gotten older. I don't know all the meanings behind their songs- that will only come with growing up.

Next thing was Sailor Moon. And that did die out. Mostly because they didn't air the episodes any more in the U.S. When I found out there were actually lesbian Scouts, I was like, whoa... if you've seen the American versions of SM, you'll understand my reaction lol

Hello Kitty has always been an obsession, but that'll never die out- cos she'll never stop being cute ;)

Lately my obsession is with the Spurs. I have more but this entry is day-umn long.

It all happened in Spring of '03. I was taking a year off from college and the other day I was thinking... it must have been when my OTHER computer died on me and I was watching TV with nothing else to do. I was watching the Spurs kick the crap out of the Lakers in the playoffs. So this was around May. I thought hey- San Antonio Spurs... I'm from South Texas. Holy hell, aren't the Lakers big bigtime? (Later I realized- duh, yes, they'd won 3 Championships in a row, which is freaking incredible in this day and age- believe me it is damned near impossible). So I was like, damn... these guys are looking pretty... pretty good!

I'd never been into sports, EVER. I mean I knew about Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the 90s - who didn't? When I'd visit my relatives in Houston they'd have Bulls mugs, caps... in freaken Houston! They were America's team. I rooted for the Dallas Cowboys when I was lil, but what Texan wouldn't... I'd never been into sports. Playing them, hated it... I'd get ill just thinking about P.E.

So when I adapted really quickly to the Spurs, it was a big surprise. It doesn't help that I'm a girl... so I was like, defense... got it.. offense got it... but what do you mean, transition defense? What do you mean, zone offense? What is this, low post, high block, baseline runner, drive and kick, what what? Not to be modest but, I think I've learned pretty quickly as my Spurs devotion has grown. Of course we won it all that year- and I think I would have savored it more if I had caught on earlier. Another reason why I became such a fast fan was because of David Robinson. I mean I knew he was a basketball player, played for the Spurs, was such a ideal role model guy- and finding out that was his last year and they wanted to send him off as a Champion? I was sucked in.

The obsession kind of dropped off during the summer... I mean I had Internet but I didn't know about any Spurs fans, Spurs message boards... I knew they had to be somewhere out there but I thought I'd be such a newbie to it all, finding a huge Spurs MB would be kind of daunting and people would see that I was a bandwagon fan and that's no fun. And then I was like, do we even get Spurs games down here? I live near the border so, I'm not that close to San An. Turns out we do get games. The playoffs are different because those are nationally televised. Of course we don't get every game, but we do get plenty... and of course I have a billion of tapes now. But after that summer I happened to catch a Spurs/Hawks game where we were blowing these guys out so I was like, hey! Oh yeah! I remember I liked these guys LOL

So I found Spurs Report.com and I've been a regular member ever since. I definitely feel like 'part of the family'. I still don't think they know I'm kind of a late fan... I don't have that connection when they start talking about Vinny Del Negro, Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, David Robinson (all Spurs players known in the 90s)... but better late than never right? And not winning the championship last year made me realize, to think what the other fans have been put through... having an elite player like David Robinson come to you in '89 and still miss out on that trophy until 1999 (arrival of Tim Duncan)? Not to mention what happened after '99 (when the Lakers made their run)... but finally we got it back in '03. Then Detroit took it, but man, I do love our chances this year. We are the frontrunners... whatever happens, I don't think this obsession will die off anytime soon.

Blah, novel is ovah, at least tonight, er morning.
Spurs Dork until the End! Posted by Hello

That is Timmay. Tim Duncan . Two Time Finals MVP. I'd like Tony Parker to get Finals MVP... but that is like blasphemy to some people, heh.
Sending Dave out a 2 time Champion. Posted by Hello

This wasn't Dave in '03. This is from the latest All Star game, held in Denver.
